How to Talk About Feelings with Your Life Partner

When it comes to talking about your feelings don’t forget that everyone has them, only some feel comfortable sharing them. And when it comes to men, just the thought of talking about “feelings” is enough to drive them to the remote control.

How do successful life partners communicate when it comes to the tender parts of our hearts we call feelings?

After reading hundreds of books, investing thousand on training and years of personal experience I have found that simply using what I call the “THREE T” communication can dramatically improve the chances of a successful feelings communication with your life partner.

Follow these “THREE T” communication formulas and you will be able to talk about your feelings with your life partner.

TRUTH, TIME AND TRUST

Number one Truth:

Always tell the truth with your life partner! Never lie, you may get away with it for a time but, as 80% communication is non-verbal, you will never totally succeed in hiding your true feelings. Remember we have feelings we are not proud. Don’t you remember wishing your parents were dead where you were 6? Tell the truth and keep open non-judging mind and you will be rewarded in the feeling conversation. Truth is the most valuable part of the life partner.

You must tell your truth first! When you want your life partner to open up about feelings you have to put your “cards” on the table first. Your one-time lies can divide your relationship for the lifetime.  Don’t expect people, men especially, to be first off the mark when it comes to feelings. Most men find it strange enough talking about feeling in the first place.

When you share your first feelings from your heart, you will find that partner is then much more willing to share her or his with you. Don’t be a lie and always tell the truth because at a time your truth will be difficult but in future, you will get a better result of your truth.

Number two Time:

Don’t try to talk about your feelings when you are in rush or when your partner has stressed something else. Wait until you have a time alone, where you will not be disturbed to bring up the subject of feelings with your life partner. Giving time to your life partner is also a key to a successful relationship. Sometimes not giving time may effect on your relationship.

Most people fail in the feeling conversation simply because they don’t invest enough time in the life partner. Remember, it can take some time for most men and even for some women to connect and feel ready to share real feelings.

Number tree Trust:

In the relationship “TRUST” is the most important thing. Trust can carry on your successful relationship with your partner. For me to open up I need to know that I will not be hurt with any information I share. When talking about feelings, always accept your partner feel as an individual to him or her “good” “bad” or anything else. Feelings are very personal and some may not pretty. Don’t allow your own feelings to get in the way of clear information. Build trust by simply accepting your life partner’s feelings, no matter what they are.
